Gophers in the Polls: November 3

Gopher fall sports keep moving up while winter sports are kicking into high gear in the latest top-25 rankings. Below is a summary of each team, and tickets for all upcoming home events are available by visiting mygophersports.com.

Volleyball - #2

Last Week: The Gophers moved up a spot in the national rankings after a pair of sweeps at home, over visiting Rutgers along with then-No. 13 Penn State.

This Week: Minnesota's already off to a good start with a three-set sweep of Indiana on Wednesday night at the Pavilion. The Gophers travel eastward to College Park to face Maryland on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

Women's Hockey - #2

Last Week: The Gophers captured another sweep over the weekend against visiting St. Cloud State, winning by 5-2 and 3-0 margins at Ridder Arena. Senior forward Dani Cameranesi was selected the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week after tallying six points in the series.

This Week: Minnesota hosts Minnesota State in a Friday/Sunday series. Puck drop is set for 6:07 p.m. CT Friday and 2:07 p.m. CT Sunday at Ridder Arena.

Soccer - #8

Last Week: The Gophers defeated Indiana in a 3-1 decision to advance to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. Josee Stiever and Sydney Squires both notched a goal and an assist in the match. Julianna Gernes also scored, off Molly Fiedler's seventh assist of the season.

This Week: Top-seeded Minnesota hosts the semifinal and final round of the tournament this weekend, beginning with a matchup with No. 4 Michigan at 2:00 p.m. at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.

Wrestling - #9

Preseason: Minnesota earned the number-nine spot in the Intermat Dual Meet Rankings.

Coming Up: The Gophers open their season on the mat on Sunday, November 6, traveling to Brookings, S.D., for the Warren Williamson / Daktronics Open while Brett Pfarr will travel to Cleveland for a Saturday night match in the NWCA All-Star Classic.

Men's Swimming & Diving - #12

Last Week: The Gophers topped the Iowa Hawkeyes by a score of 185.5 to 113.5 Friday night, winning 14 of 16 events.

Coming Up: The University of Minnesota swimming and diving teams will host the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks this Friday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m.

Men's Hockey - #13

Last Week: Traveling to upstate New York, the Gophers notched a 4-3 overtime victory at Clarkson before battling St. Lawrence to a 2-2 tie on Saturday night.

Coming Up: The Gophers return to action next weekend with a two-game series against North Dakota at Mariucci Arena.

Women's Swimming & Diving - #16

Last Week: The women defeated visiting Iowa on Friday by a 186-114 margin after event wins in 11 of 16 events.

Coming Up: The University of Minnesota swimming and diving teams will host the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks this Friday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m.

Also Receiving Votes: The Gopher women's cross country team is ranked just outside the Top 25, coming in at No. 26 in the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll. The men's cross country team is also receiving votes.
