Gophers in 14th at Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic

Minnesota finished strong in the opening round of the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic. The Gophers ended the day in 14th after overcoming a slow start. Overall, the Gophers carded 297 (+13).
Thomas Longbella, who is seeking his second straight top 20 finish, and Riley Johnson led the way for the maroon and gold. They both sunk eagles on their 10th hole of the day. Longebella notched two birdies while Johnson collected three. The two are tied for 34th, each with a score of 73 (+2).
William Leaf trails the duo by one stroke, finishing 3-over-par 74. Leaf recorded three birdies on the day and is tied for 50th.
Justin Doeden and Rúnar Arnorsson round out the Minnesota lineup, shooting 6-over 77 and 7-over 78 respectively. Doeden sits tied for 83rd while Arnorsson is tied for 93rd.
South Carolina leads the field at 2-under 282 with Keenan Huskey and Clemson's Doc Redman leading individually.
Round two tees off tomorrow with a shotgun start at 1:30 CST.
