MAUI, HAWAI'I--- The Gophers wrapped up their time in Hawai'i tied in 11th place at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic. They carded even-par 284 in the third round which brought their total score to 858 (+6).
Thomas Longbella notched his second straight top-20 finish due in large part to his historic round of 63 on Day 2. The freshman finished with 208 (-5) and led Minnesota tied for 12th place. He shot 1-over-par 72 in his final day and sunk three birdies on the day. With Longbella's top-20 finish, at least one Gopher has finished in the top 20 in each of Minnesota's five fall tournaments.
Riley Johnson turned in a stellar performance in the third round as he finished at 1-under-par 70. Birdying three of his first four holes, he rode that momentum and finished with six birdies on the day. Johnson finished at 211 (-2) and placed just outside the top 20 in 25th.
Justin Doeden had the best Sunday round of any Gopher. After he sat at even par through 16 holes, he birdied his two out of his last three to finish 2-under-par 69. Doeden's streak of top-20 finishes ends at four as he tied for 50th.
William Leaf recovered from a slow start in Round 3. He shot 2-under in his last 15 holes to finish the day with a 3-over-par 74. Leaf totaled 225 (+12) and finished 102nd.
Rúnar Arnorsson rounds out the Minnesota lineup. He finished with a score of 226 (+13) and tied for 108th.
Clemson (-26) won the tournament, with the Tigers' Doc Redman collecting medalist honors.
The Gophers will have a season break until the Big Ten Match Play Feb. 10-11.
