Hubbard Named B1G Freshman of Week

Gadiva Hubbard has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. It is the first conference weekly honor for the guard from Virginia Beach, Va.

Hubbard scored nine points and tallied four steals against the No. 8 Florida State Seminoles on Wednesday. She then poured in a career-high 26 points against Detroit Mercy on Saturday. Hubbard shot 9-for-14 against the Titans, including a 5-for-9 mark from 3-point range.

Hubbard starts the week as the top-scoring freshman in the Big Ten, averaging 14.6 points per game this season. She and the Gophers' next game is Tuesday, Dec. 6 at New Mexico. The game tips off at 8 p.m. CT and a free online video stream is available via the Mountain West Network.
