MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) - For the second year in a row, Minnesota men's cross country runners Aaron Bartnik and Adam Zutz have been named USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees while the Gopher program earned 2015 Division I Men's All-Academic Team honors.
A native of St. Francis, Minn., Zutz earned First Team All-Big Ten with a seventh-place finish at the conference meet and later added NCAA All-Region honors as the Gophers capped the season with a 19th-place showing at the NCAA Championships. His time of 23:40.0 at the conference meet stands as the fifth-fastest eight-kilometer time in school history. A mechanical engineering major, Zutz is a six-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
A native of Eden Prairie, Minn., Bartnik earned Second Team All-Big Ten (his second-straight conference honor) as well has his second-straight NCAA All-Region honor. As a redshirt senior, he picked up his second career individual title - winning the 2015 Bob Timmons Dual Classic to open the season. An electrical engineering major, Bartnik is also a six-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
Bartnik and Zutz were both team captains for the Gophers last fall.
To earn USTFCCCA All-Academic status, student-athletes must record a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at regionals or earn All-America honors at the national meet.
