Gophers to Host Best of Minnesota Meet

MINNEAPOLIS - The undefeated University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team will honor the seniors this Saturday at the final home meet of the regular-season. In addition, Winona State University, Hamline and Gustavus will join the Gophers at the annual Best of Minnesota Meet at the Sports Pavilion with action set to begin 4:00 p.m.

* SPECIAL NOTE: For the 2016 season, all posted times on the schedule are when the first rotation will begin. In the past, posted times signified lineups. Please plan accordingly to be sure not to miss any of the Maroon and Gold action.

THE OPPONENT
Minnesota hosts three in-state opponents, Gustavus Adolphus, Hamline and Winona State, this weekend at the Best of Minnesota Meet.

Gustavus Adolphus enters Saturday's coming off of a 183.875-181.950 defeat to UW-Eau Claire, moving them to 2-8 on the season.

Hamline (1-7) fell to Winona State (5-8) last weekend, 186.175-183.250.

Last season, the Gophers placed first out of the four teams with a final score of 195.325. The Maroon and Gold outscored each team in all four events. Senior Lindsay Mable claimed the All-Around title (39.425) as well as event titles on Uneven Bars (9.850), Floor (9.925) and Vault (9.850). Junior Rachel Haines claimed the Balance Beam (9.750) while senior Madeline Hanley tied Mable Bars.

LAST TIME OUT
The Gophers extended their winning streak to eight after a victory over the Air Force Falcons and the Iowa State Cyclones with a final score of 195.525.

The Maroon and Gold collected team scores of 49.050 (Vault), 49.100 (Bars), 48.225 (Beam) and 49.150 (Floor).

Mable won titles on Vault, Uneven Bars, Beam and All-Around. Her performance earned her a third straight Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor and the 12th of her career. Sophomore Ciara Gardner tied with Haylee Young of Iowa State to share the Floor crown with 9.900s.

GOPHERS IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
The national rankings have the Maroon and Gold at No. 21 in the country on Vault with a team average of 48.875 and a high of 49.050. On Floor, the team is No. 17 (49.014 avg., 49.200 high), tied for No. 17 on Beam with Missouri (48.861 avg., 49.250 high) and with an average score of 48.889 and a high of 49.350, Minnesota is No. 24 on the Uneven Bars.

The North Central Region rankings have Minnesota at. No. 4 behind Utah, Denver and Iowa, respectively.

The Maroon and Gold is fourth in the Big Ten. Michigan, Nebraska and Iowa occupy the top three spots, respectively.

LOOKING AHEAD
Minnesota will travel to Colorado for a double-meet weekend. On Friday, the team will face Denver, the No. 13 team in the country, with action set to begin at 7:00 p.m. MT. On Sunday, the Maroon and Gold will head to Colorado Springs to go head-to-head with the Air Force Falcons in a 1:00 p.m. MT meet.
