Gophers Win Three Titles in Outdoor Opener

MOBILE, Ala. - The Golden Gopher women's track & field team took home three event titles at the Jaguar Classic hosted by the University of South Alabama Friday. The meet ended early due to rain, but Erin Hawkins, Lyndsey Thorpe, and Nicolle Murphy won their events before the meet was cut short.
In Minnesota's first outdoor meet of the season, Erin Hawkins won the 400-meter dash in 55.62 seconds while Lyndsey Thorpe recorded a throw of 191-06 (58.37m) to win the hammer throw. Nicolle Murphy won the javelin competition in her 2016 debut, posting a mark of 169-09 (51.74m).
The Gophers travel to Raleigh, N.C., for the Raleigh Relays, Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26.
