Esser Wins Hammer Throw

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Gophers sophomore Agnes Esser set a career-best mark to win the hammer throw at the UCLA Legends Invitational Friday. Esser's throw of 59.55 meters (195-04) moved her into fifth in Minnesota history.
Behind Esser, Lyndsey Thorpe (57.74m, 189-05) and Angie Guenther (55.19m, 181-01) also earned top-five finishes, placing fourth and fifth, respectively. Ke-ke Burks rounded out Minnesota's hammer throwers with an eighth-place showing (53.17m, 174-05) in her 2016 outdoor debut.
The Gopher women's track & field team continues action at the UCLA Legends Invitational at UCLA Drake Stadium on Saturday. Members of the team are also slated to compete locally at the Hamline Invitational on Sunday.
