Gophers Place Sixth At Silverado Showdown

April 5, 2016 NAPA, Calif. - For the second straight day, the Minnesota women's golf team ascended the team leaderboard at the Silverado Showdown, punctuating their regular season Tuesday with a sixth-place finish among the 18-team field.
Minnesota (303-292-298--893, +29) earned its highest finish of the spring season during its last regular-season tournament at the 6,206-yard, par 72 North Course. The Gophers began the day in ninth place after finishing the opening round 13th.
"I am very proud of our team and what they are accomplishing," said head coach Michele Redman. "This was a very tough field and a great finish for us."
Two Gophers finished among the top-25, as sophomore Heather Ciskowski (76-73-73--222) and freshman Muyu Wu (73-73-76--222) finished the tournament tied for 23rd at six-over-par. Three shots back was sophomore Sabrine Garrison who was tied for 37th (79-73-73--225, +9).
Junior Emie Peronnin tied for 55th (75-75-79--229, +13), while freshman Maggie Heggerston (85-73-76--234, +18) was among a tie for 73rd place.
Stanford claimed the team title (286-285-294--865, +1) while Oregon's Cathleen Santoso was the medalist (67-73-71--211, -5).
Next up for the Gophers is a trip to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championships, which will be contested April 22-24 at the Fort Golf Resort.
