The University of Minnesota Gophers fell 5-2 to NCAA Regional host Washington this afternoon and will play a must win game at 9 p.m. CT this evening.
Minnesota stayed gritty all day and took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning but could not hang on. With two outs on the board the Huskies offense caught a spark and scored four runs. The loss snapped a program record 15 straight wins for the Maroon and Gold.
Kayla Wenner and Sydney Dwyer each recorded an RBI in the loss. Wenner placed one through the right side in the fourth inning to tie the game while Dwyer had a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth.
North Dakota State and Weber State are playing right now with the winner taking on the Gophers in an elimination game.
