After capturing its 23rd conference title on Saturday, Minnesota secured the No. 1 overall seed at the Big Ten Tournament, May 25-29, announced by the league office.
The Gophers have drawn No. 8 seed Iowa in the first round on Wednesday of the double-elimination tournament. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb. and the game will be broadcasted on the Big Ten Network.
Ohio State and Michigan round out the bottom half of the bracket as the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds, respectively. Minnesota and Ohio State battled in the final weekend of the regular season, with the Buckeyes taking two of three. The Gophers swept Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. earlier in April.
Nebraska took the No. 2 seed after sweeping No. 3 seed Indiana last weekend. The Huskers will face No. 7 seed Michigan State, while the Hoosiers are set to take on No. 6 seed Maryland.
The Maroon and Gold fell to Indiana in the series at Siebert Field three weeks ago, but came-from-behind to capture the series against Maryland in mid-April.
In total Minnesota boasts an 8-6 record against the tournament field, including a 5-3 mark versus the bottom half of the bracket.
The Gophers are guaranteed to play on both Wednesday and Thursday. Depending on results, Minnesota could play on Friday as well, or have a day of rest as the tournament plays itself out. The winner of the bracket will earn the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
All games will feature on the Big Ten Network throughout the week.
