Macken Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Junior Sam Macken has been selected to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 Softball Team, the organization announced Thursday. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Macken, Rocheester, Minn. native, is majoring in Business and marketing education and is dedicated to her studies off the field. On the field she is having a career year. She has 21 doubles on the year which has her second in Minnesota history for most doubles in a season. She leads the whole country in extra base hits with 33 this season. She also leads the team in essentially every hitting category including batting average (.391), hits (63), doubles (21), home runs (11), total bases (119) and slugging percentage (.739).
The 2016 Capital One Academic All-District Baseball and Softball Teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The Gophers finish up regular season play this weekend taking on Iowa. They are 35-12 overall and second place in the Big Ten with a 16-3 conference record.
