MINNESOTA (GopherSports.com) -- Behind a total of 11 All-America honors, the University of Minnesota men's track & field program finished 18th in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division I Program of the Year Standings -- a ranking system that examines each NCAA program's performances at the NCAA cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field championships.
Among Big Ten programs, the Gophers stand second in the rankings behind only Michigan in 14th.
The Maroon & Gold combined for 117 points in the standings, highlighted by the cross country program's 19th-place showing (19 points) at the NCAA meet -- the team's first appearance at the national championships since 2011. Minnesota added a 44th-place finish (46.5 points) at the NCAA indoor track & field championships behind All-America performances from Goaner Deng, Gian Ferretti, Luke Johnson, Ryan Lockard and Luca Wieland while the Gophers finished 47th (51.5 points) at the NCAA outdoor track & field meet with All-America merits coming from Sean Donnelly, Mitch Hechsel and the 4x400 meter relay team of Deng, Brad Neumann, Nate Roese and Jack Wellenstein.
