2016 | JUNIOR SEASON

Indoor: 
Repeated as a First Team All-American in the heptathlon - opened the season with a win at The Open, setting a meet record with 5,789 points and earning Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week and USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week honors - helped Minnesota win its second-straight Border Battle Dual with Wisconsin, picking up wins in the long jump and the 60-meter hurdles - also won the high jump at the Snowshoe Open - finished fifth in the heptathlon at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships with 5,919 points.

Outdoor: Repeated as Big Ten decathlon champion and a First Team All-Big Ten honoree - his score of 7,784 points at the conference meet ranks second all-time at Minnesota - the fifth man and second Gopher to repeat as Big Ten decathlon champion - along with Jess Lehman's back-to-back wins in the women's heptathlon, Minnesota became the first school in Big Ten history to sweep outdoor multi-event titles in consecutive years - set a meet record and posted the second-best mark in school history (7.91 meters) to win the long jump at the Virginia Challenge - added two titles at the Tom Cat Twilight, winning the high jump and the pole vault - also won the high jump at the Tommie Twilight. 


2015 | SOPHOMORE SEASON

Indoor:
2015 NCAA champion in the heptahlon - 2015 Big Ten champion and First Team All-Big Ten in the heptathlon - USTFCCCA Indoor Field Athlete of the Year - broke his own school record at the NCAA indoor meet, scoring 6,070 to win the national championship (the eighth-most points ever by a collegiate athlete in the event) - his two-point win over Georgia's Garrett Scantling marked the closest finish in NCAA history - 13th national champion in school history (first in the heptathlon) and the first since Adam Steele won the outdoor 400 meters in 2003 (first indoor national champion since Vesa Rantanen won the pole vault in 1998) - his winning heptathlon score of 5,787 at the 2015 Big Ten indoor meet broke Benjamin Jensen's school record that had stood for 17 years -  also picked up a win in the long jump at the Northwest Open and the 60-meter hurdles in the Wisconsin/Minnesota Dual. 

Outdoor: 2015 Big Ten champion and First Team All-Big Ten in the decathlon - scored 7,635 points to win Minnesota's first conference decathlon crown since 2010 - the win completed a sweep of the conference multi-events titles for the 2015 indoor and outdoor season - also competed in the Baldy Castillo Invitational, the Stanford Invitationals, the Carleton Relays, the Drake Relays, and the Musco Twilight.

2014 | FRESHMAN SEASON
Indoor:
At the 2014 Northwest Open finished 6th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.57 seconds and placed 3rd in the long jump with a mark of 6.67 meters (21-10.75) - at the same meet finished 9th in the pole vault with a jump of 4.17 meters (13-08.25) - placed 18th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.71 seconds at the 2014 Bill Bergan Invitational and finished 6th in the long jump with a jump of 7.20 meters (23-07.50) - at the 2014 Iowa State Classic finished 7th in the long jump with a mark of 6.88 meters (22-07.00) - finished 12th in the pole vault with a jump of 4.30 meters (14-01.25) at the Snowshoe Open - placed 14th in the Big Ten Championships with a long jump of 6.90 meters (22-07.75), and finished 11th in the heptathlon with a score of 4918.

Outdoor: Finished 26th in the discus at the Baldy Castillo Invitational with a mark of 42.39 meters (139-01) - tied for 16th at the 2014 Stanford Invitational in the high jump with a mark of 1.91 meters (6-03.25) and placed 6th in the long jump with a mark of 6.82 meters (22-04.50) - at the 2014 Hamline Invitational finished 8th in the pole vault with a mark of 4.15 meters (13-07.25) - finished 8th in the 400 meters with a time of 53.46 seconds at the Holst Invitational and 8th in the pole vault with a jump of 4.05 meters (13-03.50) - placed 13th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.25 seconds at the Sun Angel Classic - won the 110 meter hurdles at the Carleton Relays with a time of 14.52 seconds - in decathlon play at the Drake Relays ran the 400 meters at 52.41 seconds - at the Drake Relays finished 13th in the decathalon with a score of 6120 points - placed 11th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.40 seconds, 8th in the discus with a throw of 42.23 meters, and 15th in the long jump (5.74 meters - 18-10.00) at the Musco Twilight - at the Big Ten Championships decathlon, ran the 400 meters at 51.95 seconds and the 110 meter hurdles in 15.03 seconds - at the same meet placed 8th in the long jump with a mark of 7.16 meters (23-06.00).

PERSONAL
Entrepreneurial management major - native of Saarbruecken, Germany - son of Daniela Theis-Weiland and Klaus Weiland - one sibling, Leanne - most memorable sports moment was finishing second in the German national track championships in the decathlon - enjoys singing and playing the guitar.
