July 5, 2016 Five members of the University of Minnesota women's golf team were recognized Tuesday among the nation's best scholar-athletes in the sport, as the Women's Golf Coaches Association announced its All-American Scholars.
Earning the honor from the Gophers were junior Emie Peronnin, sophomores Sabrine Garrison and Celia Kuenster, and freshmen Niamh Ward and Muyu Wu.
Minnesota tied for the lead among Big Ten member schools with five selections, with just Ohio State and Penn State matching that total, and only four schools nationally with more selections than the Maroon and Gold.
In total, 828 women's golfers were recognized with the honor, which requires a 3.50 minimum cumulative grade point average.
