MINNEAPOLIS - Junior Heather Ciskowski shares the lead after 36 holes at the 2016 Minnesota Invitational on Monday. As a team, the Gophers stand ninth following the first and second rounds at the Minikahda Club.

Minnesota shaved 12 strokes off its first round total to finish the day at 24-over-par 600 (306-294). Texas holds the team lead at 14-over-par 590 (296-294).

"I'm really excited about the way they rallied on the back nine," said head coach Michele Redman. "Being the first tournament of the year and after being in school for just four days, they needed to shake off the rust. I'm excited to see what they do tomorrow."

Ciskowski (74-69-143) was among the Gophers to mark drastic improvement between rounds, as her 1-under-par total is tied with three other players for first.

Sophomore Muyu Wu (77-73-150) is tied for 22nd at 6-over-par, while senior Emie Peronnin sits tied for 38th (78-75-153) three strokes back. Junior Sabrine Garrison (77-77-154) is tied for 41st, with sophomore Maggie Heggerston rounding out the Gopher lineup tied for 54th (80-81-161).

Individual competitor Niamh Ward (83-89-172) is 60th after the first two rounds.
The Minnesota Invitational concludes Tuesday, with the third round set to begin with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
