Both University of Minnesota swimming and diving teams received fall Scholar All-America recognition from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). To qualify, a team must achieve a combined GPA of 3.0 or better in the most recent semester.
The Gopher women had a team GPA of 3.35, and the men had a 3.14. Both teams have earned this accolade numerous times, including both semesters last year.
In 2016, 15 Gophers earned individual Scholar All-America distinction for posting a 3.50 GPA and competing at NCAA Championships or Zone Diving. Individual honors are announced in the spring, along with spring semester team awards.
The CSCAA, the oldest organization of college coaches in America, was founded in 1922. It has recognized teams and student-athletes through the Scholar All-America program for more than 30 years.
