Abernathy Receives B1G Honors

Golden Gopher Bailey Abernathy (Denver, Colo.) has been named the Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week, announced today by the league office. This is the first conference honor for senior Abernathy.

In Minnesota's season opener against Denver, Abernathy notched a personal record of 9.900 on floor to be named co-event champion with Pioneers rookie Maddie Karr.

The last B1G Event Specialist of the Week honor for Minnesota was awarded to alum Hanna Nordquist on March 14, 2016.

Abernathy and the Gophers will travel to College Park, Md. this weekend for a quad meet against Maryland, Arizona and Alaska. The competition is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. Central.
