Freshmen Pace Gophers on Day One of ANNIKA

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Two freshmen led the way for the Minnesota women's golf on a rainy opening day of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M, hosted by the Gophers at Olympic Hills Golf Club.
Grace Kellar and Joanne Free both carded 2-over-par rounds of 74 to sit tied for 14th following 18 holes in the three-day tournament. Junior Muyu Wu was tied for 47th at 7-over-par 79, with freshman Kate Lillie one stroke back in a tie for 49th. Senior Sabrine Garrison rounded out the Gopher contingent, as she is in 59th place at 13-over-par 85.
The Gophers finished the day with a team score of 307, placing 11th. Arkansas leads the team scoring at even-par 288, while USC's Robynn Ree and Stanford's Mika Liu sharing the top of the individual leaderboard at 4-under-par 68.
The ANNIKA Intercollegiate continues with second round action on Monday. Tee times are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., but the schedule is subject to change as a result of weather conditions.
