No. 5 Gopher Volleyball
Minnesota (17-2) moved up one spot in this week's AVCA Division I Coaches Poll after stretching its winning streak to five matches. Big Ten rival Penn State became the fifth different team to be ranked No. 1 in the poll through nine weeks.
Previously: The Gophers finally returned to Maturi Pavillion after two weeks away, picking up a pair of three-set victories over ranked Purdue and Iowa in conference play.
Up Next: The Maroon & Gold are back on the road Wednesday night at Ohio State but return home this Saturday for a Homecoming border battle against No. 9 Wisconsin. The team is home for four of its next six match-ups.
No. 7 Gopher Women's Hockey
Minnesota (3-2-1) moved up two spots in the USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll after sweeping on the road this past weekend. Another conference rival, Wisconsin, remains No. 1 in the nation, holding 10-of-15 first-place votes.
Previously: The Gophers are now unbeaten in their last three after sweeping a weekend series at Bemidji State, including a 4-3 overtime victory on Saturday evening.
Up Next: The Maroon & Gold will head up I-35 towards Lake Superior this weekend when the team takes on No. 8 Minnesota Duluth in a pair of afternoon outings both Friday and Saturday. The Gophers then return home to Ridder Arena the following weekend.

Minnesota (2-2-0) slid one spot in the USCHO.com Division I Men's Poll after a split last weekend at 3M Arena at Mariucci. Defending National Champion Denver remains the top-ranked team in the poll, holding tight to 49-of-50 first-place votes.
Previously: The Gophers opened up their home season against Big Ten rival Penn State last weekend, including a 6-3 victory over the Nittany Lions on Sunday afternoon.
Up Next: The Maroon & Gold will reignite an old rivalry this weekend when the team travels to Grand Forks to take on No. 4 North Dakota. After that, the 'U' hosts its next four in Minneapolis.

Minnesota enters the season ranked 17th after closing out the 2016-17 campaign at no. 19. The U is the fourth-highest ranked Big Ten team in the Preseason CSCAA Division I Women's Poll. The next poll comes down on Oct. 25.

Minnesota jumped from outside the top-25 all the way to No. 18 in this week's USTFCCCA Division I Men's National Coaches Poll. Minnesota also ranks second in the Midwest region behind only No. 10 Oklahoma State.
Previously: The Gophers finished 12th of 35 teams at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison on Friday night.
