The University of Minnesota soccer team will travel to Nebraska for their last regular season game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers before they prepare for the Big Ten Tournament starting on Oct. 29.

SCOUTING THE CORNHUSKERS

Nebraska comes in with a 9-4-5 record, and a Big Ten record of 3-2-5. They have surrendered just 12 goals this season, while scoring 30 goals as a team. Nebraska overall has scored 17 of their goals in the first half, and 12 in the second half. Haley Hanson is the leader of their attack with nine goals this season, along with four assists for a total of 22 points, which is fourth most in the Big Ten. Elyse Huber is also a factor on the offensive end for the Cornhuskers with seven goals this season, and four game-winning goals. Aubrei Corder has started all 18 games for Nebraska. She has made 49 saves, and has a save percentage of 80.3 percent, which is fifth in the Big Ten this season.

LAST TIME OUT - OHIO STATE

The Gophers packed Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium with the second most fans this season with 1160. Ohio State came out swinging with two goals in the first 15 minutes to grab a 2-0 lead. The two goal deficit was just the second time this season Minnesota has trailed by multiple goals. The Maroon and Gold got one back in the 56th minute on a penalty kick from Julianna Gernes, her eighth goal of the season. Kailee Sharp made a career-high in saves with five, putting her season total to 27 saves. Overall, Minnesota held the shot advantage 18-9, but only had three on goal to the Buckeyes seven.

"We are certainly disappointed, but we are really happy with the way we responded in the second half," head coach Stefanie Golan said. "We were throwing everything we could at them, we changed offensive formations up numerous times and we had a couple looks that just didn't find their way in."

IN SYD WE TRUST

In the 2017 season, Sydney Squires has scored in seven different games for a total of 14 for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. In those seven games, the Gophers have amassed a record of 7-0-0, and have combined to outscore their opponents 30-3. Overall, the Gophers record if Squires registers a point is 7-0-1, with the only tie coming against Michigan on Sept. 21.

LEADING THE WAY

April Bockin did not register an assist in the Gophers 2-1 loss the Buckeyes, but Bockin's 12 assists on the season still leads the NCAA. Her average of 0.71 assists is also tied for an NCAA lead.

SCORER'S MENTALITY

The Gophers this season have scored 40 goals, seven more than any other team in the Big Ten, with 24 of those goals coming in Big Ten play. Minnesota holds a large lead in total points as well with 123, Purdue is second with just 98. Minnesota is third in the Big Ten in shot percentage at 13.9 percent.
