Iowa City, Iowa - Minnesota women's swimming and diving team continued their long standing dominance against rival Iowa Friday evening with a 190-109 victory. The men's squad snapped their six meet win streak against the Hawkeyes falling 162-138.

A fast start by Iowa spoiled the Gophers' search for their first dual win of the year.

Senior captain Conner McHugh led the team with 22 points, including first place finishes in the 100 and 200 breast. McHugh posted NCAA "B" qualifying times in both events with a 100 breast time of 54.74 and a 200 breast time of 1:57.13. Junior Brian Poon also added 16 points including a first place finish in the 200 IM (1:49.22).

On the diving side Minnesota captain Alan LeBlang, posting a second place finish in the 3-meter (379.25), while Nick Yang placed third in the 1-meter (338.10).

Bowen Becker added late points for the Gophers with second place finishes in the 100 free and 400 free relay.

Women | #17 Minnesota 190, Iowa 109

Asserting their dominance from the start, Minnesota posted a first place finish in every event Friday evening in Iowa City.

Freshman Mackenzie Paddington had another stand out day in the water for the Gophers, adding 21 points individually including two first place finishes. Junior Chantal Nack also posted a pair of first place touches in the 200 and 500 free.

On the diving side of things Mariam Khamis posted first place finishes in both the 1-meter (290.15) and the 3-meter (308.75).

Minnesota posted a handful of NCAA "B" qualifying times. Doing so was Tevyn Wadell in the 100 back (53.90) and 200 back (1:58.55), Lindey Kozelsky in the 100 breast (1:02.49) and Danielle Nack in the 10o butterfly (54.24) and 200 fly (1:59.56)

Minnesota opened up the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay touching in at 141.87. Adding 16 more team points, the Gophers swept the top three spots in the 1000 free. Padington touched in first, swimming in her first 1000 free as a Gopher, with a time of 9:53.22 while Brooke Zeiger and Abbey Erwin followed.

The Gophers relays also posted top finishes, in the 200 medley Waddell, Kozelsky, Danielle Nack and Kaia Grobe posted a touch time of 1:41.87. In the 400 free relay, Minnesota's D. Nack, C. Nack, Zoe Avestruz and Padington touched in at 3:22.46.

UP NEXT

Minnesota will return home to Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in a triple dual meet against Michigan, Wisconsin and Penn State. The Big Ten matchup will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday Nov. 3 and 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4. Friday night Minnesota will honor its six seniors, as well as host its annual "Pack the Pool" night. Daily admission to the event is $5.
