Two Gophers in Top 20 After First Round in Atlanta

ATLANTA - A pair of Minnesota women's golfers stand among the top-20 after a challenging opening round Friday at the Louisville Ladies Fall Invitational. The Atlanta Athletic Club Highlands Course proved to be a test for the field on the first day, with no players below par at the prestigious club that has hosted PGA Championships and U.S. Opens.
Freshman Grace Kellar is tied for 13th after an opening-round 76, good for 4-over-par. Junior Muyu Wu is one shot back, tied for 17th at 5-over-par 77. Freshman Joanne Free is tied for 45th after carding 82 (+10), with senior Sabrine Garrison (83, +11) and freshman Kate Lillie (86, +14) rounding out the lineup in ties for 52nd and 62nd, respectively.
Jessica Lee is tied for 56th, as the freshman carded a 13-over-par round of 85 while competing individually.
The University of Georgia holds the round-one team lead at 11-over-par 299, with the Gophers in ninth place at 30-over-par 318. Georgia's Rinko Mitsunaga and Coastal Carolina's Malene Krolboll Hansen share the individual lead with rounds of even-par 72.
The second round of the tournament continues Saturday morning, with tee-times scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET. The Gopher lineup will go off the 10th hole in the final five groups, beginning at 10:00 a.m. ET.
