EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Competing among the nation's top programs in arguably the top tournament of the year, the Minnesota women's golf team concluded play Tuesday at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate Presented by 3M, hosted by Olympic Hills Golf Club.
Freshman Joanne Free led the Gophers, tying for 41st at 12-over-par (74-76-78-228). Classmate Grace Kellar tied for 53rd at 21-over-par (74-81-82-237), with fellow freshman Kate Lillie (80-77-82-239) and senior Sabrine Garrison (85-77-77-239) tied for 55th at 23-over-par. Junior Muyu Wu (79-79-82-240) placed 58th.
"We couldn't be more proud to have an event of this nature at our golf course," said Dan Luther, who is the co-owner of Olympic Hills along with his brother David. "I think the coaches and the players are appreciating and enjoying the condition of the golf course as well as the challenge of the golf course. From that standpoint we couldn't be more proud to showcase our golf course."
Arkansas won the team title at 16-under par, with the Razorbacks' Maria Fassi claiming medalist honors at 10-under-par (70-70-66-206). The Gophers placed 12th as a team (307-309-319-935).
The Gophers will close out their fall schedule in just under four weeks, traveling to the Atlanta Athletic Club for the Louisville Ladies Fall Invitational from October 27-29.
