No. 5 Gopher Volleyball
Minnesota (21-2) held steady at the no. 5 spot in the latest AVCA Division I Coaches Poll. Big Ten rival Penn State remains the No. 1 ranked team this week, holding 56-of-64 first-place votes.
Previously: The Gophers have won nine-straight entering the week, defeating Rutgers on the road in straight sets on Saturday night.
Up Next: The Maroon & Gold will be home for two this weekend as the team welcomes Maryland and Ohio State to Maturi Pavilion this Friday and Saturday night.
No. 5 Gopher Men’s Hockey
Minnesota (5-3-0) moved up two spots after a weekend sweep , now ranked fifth in the USCHO.com Division I Men’s Poll. Denver holds 42 first-place votes and maintains the top spot in the poll.
Previously: The Gophers swept a two-game series with Clarkson at 3M Arena at Mariucci last weekend, defeating the Golden Knights 3-1 on Friday and 2-1 on Saturday.
Up Next: The Maroon & Gold remain in Minneapolis this weekend, returning to Big Ten play as Michigan State comes to town. Game one on Friday night is set for 7 p.m. while Saturday’s game two will be contested at 4 p.m.
No. 6 Gopher Women’s Hockey
Minnesota (5-4-1) maintained the sixth-place position in the latest USCHO.com Division I Women’s Poll. WCHA foe Wisconsin continues to rank No. 1 after moving to 12-0-0 on the season.
Previously: The Gophers fell 2-1 in an overtime thriller against the top-ranked Badgers on Sunday afternoon at Ridder Arena.
Up Next: The Maroon & Gold will head just about 80 miles south as the team travels to Minnesota State University, Mankato this weekend for another WCHA series on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

Minnesota ranked sixth in the preseason College NWCA/USA Today Rankings released Tuesday. Big Ten rival Penn State holds all 16 first-place votes and the top spot in the poll.
Previously: The Gophers posted a 7-5 mark last season in duals including a 5-4 Big Ten record.

Minnesota leaped six spots in the latest USTFCCCA Division I National Coaches’ Poll, ranking at the top of the Midwest region, and second in the Big Ten.
