MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota men's cross country program continues the 2017 campaign on Friday, Nov. 3 at St. John's Fall Finale in Collegeville, Minn.
The men's eight-kilometer competition is set for 5 p.m. CT at the Collegeville Trails.
Gopher Success at SJU
The Maroon & Gold have dominated the individual competition at the Fall Finale, winning 10-straight titles dating back to David Van Orsdel's win in 2006. Hamza Ali won the event for Minnesota in 2016 while Connor Olson claimed the individual title in 2015.
Last Time Out: Big Ten Championships
Obsa Ali posted an eighth-place finish to claim Second Team All-Big Ten honors for the second time in his career as the Gophers finished sixth at the 2017 Big Ten Cross Country Championships last weekend. Ali led Minnesota while the Maroon & Gold totaled 142 points as a team.

'U' Breaks Ground on Track & Field Facility
The University of Minnesota officially broke ground on a new outdoor track & field venue on Friday, Oct. 20. The new stadium will feature a nine-lane track with three chutes, full field event hosting capabilities, and a design to allow sprints and certain field events to be held in multiple directions to take advantage of wind conditions on competition days. These features, along with permanent and event-based seating, provide the flexibility and the amenities to host a wide variety of meets.
Lawrence, Wiebke Captain the Gophers
Redshirt senior Charlie Lawrenceis back for his second year as captain of the Maroon & Gold while senior Derek Wiebkejoins him as a team captain this year. A native of Foley, Minn., Lawrence earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors last year as well as his second-straight NCAA All-Region selection. A Academic All-American from Kasson, Minn., Wiebke returns to the cross country program after winning a Big Ten indoor mile title last year along with Second Team All-America honors as part of the indoor distance medley relay team.
