Gopher Spotlight: Dalianliz Rosado

Dalianliz Rosado has been Minnesota's anchor in the back row for nearly every match since her freshman year. Leading the team in digs since 2014, Rosado currently sits fourth all-time with 1,709 career digs. The Puerto Rico native has changed almost every aspect of her game to become a stronger defensive player over the years. Gophersports: What is the energy like on the court when you play at Maturi Pavilion, especially in front of a sold out crowd?
Dalianliz Rosado: It is a great energy, especially when I dig a hard ball and the crowd gets loud. It is my favorite thing when the crowd gets loud because of a good play.
GS: How does it feel to be fourth in digs in Minnesota's all-time career record book?
DR: I didn't even know about that! I honestly don't pay much attention to it. It is good that I achieved something like that, but I focus on my team. Whatever they need me to do, I'll do it.
GS: What was your experience like being on the Big Ten Foreign Tour team this past summer?
DR: It was a great experience and it was good to get to know other players. I learned a lot, especially learning how to adapt quickly with players that I have not played with before.
GS: What is something you have improved on over the years?
DR: I have improved on my whole all around game. Especially my technique and I changed my serve too. I have changed everything and have gotten better overall. My defense has come a long way since I got here.
GS: What is something people might not know about you?
DR: People, from what they see on the court, may think I am a very loud and outgoing person, but I'm not. I am kind of a quiet person, I have to get to know people to open up.
GS: Thinking back to when you were a younger player, would you have ever thought your volleyball career would end up like this?
DR: No I did not. I knew I wanted to come to the United States and play for a good team. I didn't know I would end up in Minnesota. When I had the chance to come here, I took the opportunity and I have been working hard ever since.
