MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota junior Sophie Skarzynski has been selected as this week's WCHA Offensive Player of the Week, Powered by GoodWood Hockey, after she assisted six of the Gophers' seven goals in a road sweep at Lindenwood last week.

Skarzynski led Minnesota with six points in its non-conference sweep over the Lions. Along with her six assists, she had seven shots on goal and was +3 for the series after being on the ice for six goals, including two power-play tallies. Skarzynski set up both game-winning goals as Minnesota won 3-1 and 4-3 (OT) and improved to 10-0-0 on the road this season.

Skarzynski's six points were tops in the WCHA for the week. Her six assists, 3.00 assists per game, 3.00 points per game, and two power-play points all led the league. Nationally, the Lake Forest, Illi, native was tied for the lead among all NCAA players with six points.

In game one, Skarzynski set up all three Minnesota goals as the Gophers scored three unanswered goals on the way to the 3-1 win. She also logged five shots on goal and was +2 after the Gophers' first goal came on the power play.

Game two saw Skarzynski assist Minnesota's first, third, and fourth goals. Lindenwood tied the game twice, but Skarzynski set up the go-ahead goal and the overtime game-winner on the power play. She was +1 with two shots on goal.

Skarzynski's six-point series moved her season total to 18 points (5g-13a), which is tied for the team lead. This week's honor marks Skarzynski's first WCHA weekly award of her career.
