Destiny Pitts has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week while junior Kenisha Bell earned a spot on the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday.

Pitts put on a show behind the three-point arc in the Gophers lone game of the week against Cal-Poly. The Gophers finished with a season-high 16 threes paced by seven from Pitts. She finished with 23 points, four rebounds and two steals. This is the third time this season that Pitts has been named the Big Ten's Freshman of the Week.

Bell had another big day as the Gophers cruised to a 112-68 victory over Cal Poly with her third straight 20-point game. She stuffed the stat sheet with a team leading 26 points, eight assists, six rebounds and four steals. Bell is averaging 20 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this season.

The Maroon and Gold return to action on Friday, Dec. 22 when they host UC Riverside. Their final non-conference game of the season will tip off at 1 p.m.
