Gophers In the Polls: February 1

Feb. 1, 2017 Minneapolis, Minn. - As the spring season polls start to come out, the Golden Gophers add to their list of ranked teams. Tickets for all upcoming home events are available by visiting mygophersports.com.

Women's Hockey - #4

Last Week: The Gophers swept St. Cloud State after winning game one 2-1 and game two 5-0.

This Week: The back-to-back defending national champion University of Minnesota women's hockey team is back on the road at Minnesota State this week. The Gophers and Mavericks face off at 7 p.m. CT Friday and 3 p.m. CT Saturday.

Men's Gymnastics - #5

Last Week: No. 5 Minnesota fell to No. 3 Illinois 416.500 to 413.750 on Saturday evening in Champaign, Ill. The Gophers again improved its team score, and moved to 3-4 on the season.

This Week: The Golden Gophers will return to the Sports Pavilion on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2:30 p.m. to host Nebraska and Minnesota's club team.

Men's Hockey - #7

Last Week: Minnesota fell in their first game of the North Star College Cup 3-2 to Minnesota Duluth but rebounded by defeating Bemidji State 4-0.

This Week: Minnesota returns to Big Ten action next weekend with a two-game series against Penn State at Mariucci Arena.

Wrestling - #10

Last Week: Minnesota returned to the Hoosier State for its second dual in Indiana in the past eight days. Just as they did last Sunday in Bloomington, the Gophers put together a convincing performance in West Lafayette to knock off Purdue, 29-12, at Holloway Gym.

Coming Up: The Gophers have one week off now to prepare for one of the greatest rivalries in college wrestling. The Iowa Hawkeyes come to Minneapolis next Sunday, Feb. 5, for an 11 a.m. dual.

Softball - #14/#16

This Week: The Gophers are ranked in the USA Softball Top-25 with a No. 14 ranking. For the third straight season the University of Minnesota starts the season ranked in the USA Today/NFCA Division 1 Preseason Top-25 poll coming in at No. 16.

Coming Up: Minnesota will start their season on Feb. 10 as they compete in the Texas Tournament in Austin, Texas.

Women's Swimming and Diving - #19

Last Week: The women's team opened up the meet with similar success, finishing second place in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:33.07.

This Week: The Gophers will be hosting the Minnesota Challenge February 3-4 at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.

Men's Swimming and Diving - #20

Last Week: After an impressive first day at the triple dual, Minnesota opened its second day of the meet with a win in the men's 200-yard freestyle relay (1:19.54).

This Week: The Gophers will be hosting the Minnesota Challenge February 3-4 at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.

Women's Gymnastics - #23

Last Week: The University of Minnesota upset No. 20 Ohio State 196.800 to 196.450 on Saturday evening at the Sports Pavilion. The Gophers' team score was a season high by nearly two points.

This Week: The Gophers will be back on the road next weekend as they head to Champaign, Ill. to face the Fighting Illini. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 4 at 4:00 p.m.

Receiving Votes: Baseball is receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches' Poll.
