Wednesday Finals Results Get Acrobat Reader

The University of Minnesota kicked off the 2017 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships with two strong relay performances on Wednesday night at Boilermaker Aquatic Center. After the opening relays, the Gophers are in first place with 118 points.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Tevyn Waddell, Lindsey Horejsi, Danielle Nack and Zoe Avestruz won gold with a time of 1:35.55. The Gophers' time was a Big Ten Conference record, school record, championship meet record, pool record and an automatic qualifying time for the NCAA Championships. It was Minnesota's first relay title since 2014

The Gophers went on to earn another set of medals in the next relay. D. Nack, Chantal Nack, Waddell and Avestruz earned in the 800 free relay with a 7:00.61. The time was another NCAA "A" Cut for Minnesota.

D. Nack was the only upperclassmen to compete this evening as two freshmen and two sophomores composed the rest of the relay teams.

The meet will resume tomorrow with preliminary heats of the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 1-meter diving at 10:00 a.m. Central.
