MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota campus will be a particularly busy place this weekend, with overlapping events on both Friday and Saturday. Visitors to campus are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel and parking.
Gopher women's hockey, men's hockey, and men's basketball all play at home on campus this weekend, and the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) is also hosting events at venues on campus.
Friday's Gopher events include women's hockey vs. Bemidji State at Ridder Arena (6 p.m.) and men's hockey vs. Wisconsin at Mariucci Arena (7 p.m.). The MSHSL girls hockey class AA state tournament consolation semifinals are set for Friday at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at Ridder Arena, and girls gymnastics state championships are at the Sports Pavilion (Session I at 11 a.m. and Session II at 6 p.m.).
Action continues Saturday as the Gopher men's basketball hosts Penn State at Williams Arena (2 p.m.), women's hockey hosts Bemidji State at Ridder Arena (4 p.m.), and men's hockey hosts Wisconsin at Mariucci Arena (7 p.m.).
MSHSL girls hockey and girls gymnastics continue Saturday as well. The girls hockey state tournament consolation finals are at Ridder Arena at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. along with girls gymnastics state championships at the Sports Pavilion (Session III at 11 a.m. and Session IV at 6 p.m.).
In addition to considering the busy weekend of events, fans should plan for potential weather-related delays on campus. Minneapolis is expected to receive anywhere from six to 12 inches of snow beginning Thursday night through Friday evening.
There will not be any changes to the normal flow of traffic nor parking on campus on Friday or Saturday.
