REGULAR SEASON FINALE
The University of Minnesota will host Brigham Young University on Senior Night this Saturday, March 4th at the Sports Pavilion. The first rotation will begin at 4:00 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Gophers swept the podium at last Sunday's Best of Minnesota meet with Winona, Hamline and Gustavus. Junior Ciara Gardner won event titles on beam and all-around, scoring the lone 9.900 of the competition on beam, which was a personal record. Rookie Paige Williams earned gold on vault, Bailie Holst topped uneven bars and Bailey Abernathy had the highest score on floor. Minnesota's team total was a 194.700.
HALF AND HALF
With the spring semester addition of Mary Korlin-Downs, The Gophers' roster is now composed of nine newcomers and nine returners. With such a young team, Minnesota's lineups have seen a big shift. Freshmen Julia Huebert, Ivy Lu, Kristen Quaglia and Paige Williams have each seen action in their respective events.
SENIOR NIGHT
Minnesota will recognize seniors Abernathy, Holst and Kaitlin Rahon for their impact on the program the past four years. The trio will be honored at the conclusion of the meet.
ABOUT BYU
The Cougars enter the weekend coming off the program's highest score in three years, 196.425, in a close loss to No. 17 Iowa (196.550). BYU's top all-around competitor is Shannon Hortman, who is averaging a 38.821. Their program's highest-ranked event is bars (49.020), while Minnesota holds an edge on vault, beam and floor.
IN THE RANKS
Minnesota is currently 34th with a 194.895, based on its Regional Qualifying Score (RQS). By event, the Gophers are tied for 32nd with Iowa State on vault (48.825), 53rd on bars (48.415), 32nd on beam (48.735) and 15th on floor (49.135). Qualification for regional competition is based on a team's and an all-around competitor's six best regular-season-meet scores, of which three must be away. To obtain the regional qualifying score (RQS), the high score is eliminated and the remaining five scores are averaged.
