Johnson Ties for 12th at Valspar Collegiate

Riley Johnson led the Gophers with a tie for 12th at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational. Minnesota finished 12th as a team against a tough field at the Floridian. The Gophers' team score was 887, 35 over.
Johnson carded a 2-over 73 on Tuesday to finish with a 2-over total score of 215, the second-best 54-hole score of his career. His 12th-place tie is his best finish as a Gopher in a 54-hole tournament.
Justin Doeden was the Gophers' second finisher, in a tie for 35th at 8 over. He shot a 72 in the final round. Rúnar Arnorsson was one shot behind him in a tie for 41st after a third-round 78.
Grady Meyer tied Minnesota's lowest round of the day with a 72. He tied for 64th (+16). Thomas Longbella had a 78 on Tuesday and tied for 73rd (+25).
Wake Forest won the team title with a score of 859, one stroke ahead of Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets' Tyler Strafaci captured medalist honors at 2 under.
Minnesota will return to the course for the Princeton Invitational, which runs April 8-9.
