Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Minnesota heads to Columbus, Ohio for their first conference games as they take on Ohio State for a three-game series that begins Friday at 4:05 p.m. central time.

The Golden Gophers are coming off of a four-game California road trip that they ended with a 2-2 record after playing California, Berkeley and Sacramento State to make them 11-8 overall this season.

As a team the Maroon and Gold have a .275 batting average while Luke Pettersen leads the team with a .379 batting average (25-66) who is on a four-game hitting streak. Micah Coffey and Toby Hanson lead the team with 13 RBIs. Hanson also leads the team with nine extra-base hits (six doubles, two triples and one home run).

Jordan Smith has three home runs, a team high, while Alex Boxwell leads with four triples. Boxwell also has a team leading four stolen bases, three of which came this past week.

Minnesota has a team ERA of 4.40 with Lucas Gilbreath leading the team with a 3.13 ERA and 27 strike outs. Brian Glowicki has made nine appearances out of the bullpen where he has recorded a 0.79 ERA, a 1-0 record, six saves and 13 strikeouts. Senior Tim Shannon has a 3.00 ERA in 10 relief appearances in which he has struck out eight batters.

Defensively, the Gophers have a .983 fielding percentage. Minnesota has turned 19 doubles plays, one of the top schools in the country.

About Ohio State
The Buckeyes are 9-11 overall this season after being swept by Xavier the past weekend and defeating Youngstown State 12-8 Tuesday.

Ohio State has a team batting average of .247, spearheaded by Tre' Gantt who has a .365 batting average. Noah McGowan leads the team with five home runs while Jalen Washington has 19 RBIs, another team high. Washington has also swiped six bases to lead the team.

Adam Niemeyer leads the weekend starters with a 3.86 ERA while as a team Ohio State has a 5.02 ERA. Ryan Feltner leads the Buckeyes with 24 strikeouts while Seth Kinker and Ylanni Pavlopoulos both have two saves.
