MAINEVILLE, Ohio - Senior Emie Peronnin closed her collegiate career with a flourish, finishing among three players below par at the Big Ten Championships which concluded Sunday at the TPC River's Bend.
Peronnin ended the tournament at 4-under-par (70-70-72--212), two strokes behind eventual champion Elodie Van Dievoet of Michigan. Her top-5 finish is the first for a Gopher since Samantha Sommers was fifth in 2010, and her 54-hole score ties for third among the Gopher records.
Additionally, the performance caps a four-year Gopher career that sees the Fréjus, France native climb to third in the school records for career scoring average of 75.84, behind Teresa Puga's mark of 75.51 set in 2011 and Carmen Laguna's mark of 75.55 in 2015.
Junior Sabrine Garrison ended the tournament tied for 31st (77-74-78--229), while classmate Heather Ciskowski finished tied for 55th (81-79-78--238). Sophomore Niamh Ward finished in 71st place (83-81-82--246). Fellow sophomore Muyu Wu carded the second-lowest Gopher round of the day at 2-over-par 74, but was disqualified earlier in the weekend.
Michigan State claimed the team title (298-283-285--866), while the Gophers placed eighth (311-298-302--911) in Big Ten 6 count 4 scoring and tied for seventh in 5 count 4.
