Gophers Take On NIU in Midweek Tilt

Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Minnesota heads to DeKalb, Ill. Tuesday for a midweek game on versus Northern Illinois with the first pitch scheduled for 3:05 p.m. central time.
The Gophers have a 23-12 overall record and are 8-4 in the Big Ten after dropping two games of a three-game series to Nebraska this past weekend.
As a team, Minnesota has a .291 batting average. Luke Pettersen leads all players with 100+ plate appearances with a .333 batting average. Jordan Smith, Matt Stemper and Alex Boxwell are all tied for most home runs with five home runs each. Boxwell also leads the team with seven steals.
Toby Hanson leads the Maroon and Gold with 29 RBIs while Micah Coffey is close behind with 25. Jordan Kozicky has posted a .347 batting average along with scoring 13 runs, seven doubles, one home run and 14 RBIs. The redshirt freshman is currently on an eight-game hitting streak and an 18-game on-base streak.
Nolan Burchill will start for the Gophers and has posted a 2-2 record. The freshman has a 4.57 ERA and has struck out 13 batters this season. Brian Glowicki now has 13 saves, most in the Big Ten and second most in the conference. The senior also has a 0.41 ERA and has struck out 27 batters. Reggie Meyer has made 12 appearances, 10 relief and two starts. He has a 2-0 record to go with his 2.81 ERA, 19 strikeouts and one save.
About Northern Illinois
The Huskies are 12-26 this season after taking two games over Evansville. The team has a .248 batting average and Jacob Dunham leads the team with a .310 batting average. Three different Huskies have two home runs while Samuel Vega leads the team with 18 RBIs.
Joe Hawks leads the team with a 3.20 ERA and 56 strikeouts while the team has a 5.19 ERA. Ryne Blanton has four saves in 16 appearances out of the bullpen along with a 4.88 ERA and 22 strikeouts.
All-Time Series
Minnesota leads the all-time series 11-1 and the last time the two teams played each other was in 2016. The Gophers defeated the Huskies 12-10 at Siebert Field in the last meeting.
