AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Minnesota women's track & field team opened up this weekend's Longhorn Invitational by taking the top four places in the hammer throw Friday evening at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Led by Agnes Esser's career-best throw of 61.66m (202-03), the Gophers finished first through fourth for the third time this season. Esser's throw leads the Big Ten Conference and moved her up to third among all-time Gophers.
Temi Ogunrinde finished as runner-up with a throw of 61.06m (200-04), just shy of her career-best mark of 61.09m (200-05) set earlier this season.
Nina Horvath crushed her previous PR with a career-best toss of 60.86m (199-08) to move from 10th (58.78m, 192-10) into a tie for fifth on Minnesota's all-time list.
Angie Guenther rounded out the top-four finishers with a throw of 60.60m (198-10), her third-best mark of the season and just off her PR 60.79m (199-05).
With today's marks, the Gopher quartet owns four of the top six best marks in the B1G this season.
The Gophers are also competing at the Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, Friday, and the Longhorn Invitational continues Saturday. Members of the team are also competing locally at the Janis Rider Invitational hosted by Macalester College on Saturday.
