Gophers Softball Schedule Change

SCHEDULE UPDATE: Minnesota will play the winner of Albany-La Tech tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. Those two teams are playing this evening at 7:45 p.m. The Winner of tomorrow's 1:30 p.m. game will play Alabama at 4 p.m. tomorrow. If there is a needed final game that would be played at a to be determined time on Monday.

Sara Groenewegen was locked in a three hour pitcher's duel with Alabama's Alexis Osorio all afternoon but the Univerity of Minnesota Gophers fell 1-0 in nine innings.
In the bottom of the ninth, Alabama scored the only run of the game after a bases-loaded walk. Groenewegen went 8.2 innings with 10 strikeouts and only allowed four hits in nine innings. She had great defense behind her all day, epecially in the outfield. Sam Macken and Maddie Houlihan both made a number of big time catches including one in the seventh inning from Macken.

The Gophers had their chances but were not able to punch one across. They loaded the bases in the eighth inning. Dani Wagner singled and Allie Arneson battled to a walk in a 14-pitch at bat before Kendyl Lindaman was later intetionally walked but Alabama got out of the jam by forcing a groundout. Groenewegen smacked a double in the top of the ninth for the Gophers second hit of the game.
