The No. 4/4 University of Minnesota Gophers beat Penn State 10-1 to complete their seventh B1G sweep and eighth conference series win. They closed out the regular season with a 22-game win streak, are 51-3 overall and 22-1 in the Big Ten.

"I was proud of our girls for coming out after an emotional game yesterday. They scored first and we answered back which is what you want to see." head coach Jessica Allister said. "We are excited to start the next phase of the season."

Kendyl Lindaman continued her record breaking season. She was walked four times in the game and now has the Gophers single season walk record with 52 walks this year. She already owns the Gophers single season home run record. Malisa Barnes had the previous walk record with 49 in the 2011 season.

The Nittany Lions led off with a home run in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead but the Gophers would not allow another baserunner the rest of the game.

Allie Arneson quickly gave the Gophers the lead in the top of the second inning with a double to left center that scored Sara Groenewegen and Dani Wagner. The Maroon and Gold had a chance to do even more damage loading the bases in the frame but Penn State was able to get out of the jam.

With two outs on the board in the third inning Groenewegen made her way to second off a double to right center. Wagner followed with her third home run of the series to make it 4-1 in favor of the Gophers.

Minnesota kept pouring it on in the fourth inning with six more runs. Maddie Houlihan got the scoring rolling with an RBI-double. MaKenna Partain followed with a double to left center that scored two. Arneson picked up her third RBI of the day on a walk, Sam Macken recorded an RBI groundout right after and Danielle Parlich knocked in the final run of the game with a single to shortstop.

Groenewegen got the nod in the circle and went three innings with seven strikeouts. She is now 27-2 on the season with a 0.60 ERA and 256 strikeouts. She is now just 21 strikeouts away from Sara Moulton's career strikeout record of 1,184.

Tori Finucane came in to pitch in the final two innings. She did not allow a hit and struck out two batters.

The Gophers finished with 10 hits in the game. They finish the regular season hitting .351 as a team with a 1.18 team ERA. The Gophers outscored their opponents 405-80 in the regular season.

Minnesota will head to Ann Arbor, Mich. next weekend for the Big Ten Tournament (Bracket/More Info). They will have the No. 1 seed after winning their first regular season B1G title since 1991.
