Kendyl Lindaman has been named the Division I NFCA Sports Diamond Catcher of the Year, the organizations announced Wednesday.

Lindaman highlights a list of 10 student-athletes who garnered the distinction of top catcher from each of the NFCA's member divisions. She is the first ever Gopher to earn this accolade.

The honor caps off a plethora of awards won by Lindaman this season. She was a unanimous NFCA Division I All-American, was named both the Big Ten Player and Freshman of the Year, was the first ever Big Ten player ever to be named a Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year top-3 finalist, earned NFCA All-Region first-team honors and broke a Big Ten record with eight Freshman of the Week honors.

The Ankeny, Iowa native had one of the most productive offensive seasons in the entire country as just a freshman. She led the Big Ten in home runs (20), slugging percentage (.899), RBI (tied-76), walks (63), on base percentage (.598) and batting average (.426). She also finished third in the NCAA in on base percentage, tied for third in RBI, fourth in slugging percentage and seventh in home runs. The home runs, slugging percentage, RBI, walks and on base percentage were all school records.
