The University of Minnesota women's golf team received another accolade for its outstanding academic performance this week, celebrating the NCAA's Public Recognition Award.
A letter from NCAA President Mark Emmert and John DeGioia, chairman of the NCAA Division I Committee on Academics, was sent to head coach Michele Redman and members of the Athletics staff congratulating the Gophers on the award.
The honor is bestowed on teams with an NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports in the 2015-16 academic year.
Women's golf, which scored a perfect 1,000 in both the single-year and multiyear scores, was one of 11 Gopher athletic programs to receive the Public Recognition Award.
