Despite the August break, three current Gophers are still spending time on the hardwood this month.

Senior Nate Mason is serving as a counselor at the CP3 Camps set up by NBA All-Star Chris Paul. Mason is one of 20 counselors working with the top high school and college point guards in the nation at the invitation-only Elite Guard Camp in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Sophomores Michael Hurt and Amir Coffey are each playing this month as well.

Hurt is taking part in the USA East Coast trip to Madrid, Spain, where he is part of a 12-man team that will play four games against national squads from Venezuela, Mexico, Senegal and Japan. His first game came last night, a win over Venezuela in which Hurt scored four points, three rebounds and two assists. Hurt's team is coached by Basketball Hall of Famer Larry Brown.

Coffey will travel to Los Angeles for the Nike Skills Academy. He is one of 20 college players invited to the camp, which will feature college and prep athletes competing with NBA players as coaches, and scouting personnel in attendance. The Nike Skills Academy will take place from August 15-20.
