WOODBURY, Minn. - Junior Muyu Wu sits tied for 13th, leading the Minnesota women's golf team after 36 holes of action at the Minnesota Invitational on Monday.
On a chamber of commerce weather day at Prestwick Golf Club, the new home for the annual event, the Gophers are ninth in the team standings (290-284-574, -2) with three players among the top 25.
Wu is three strokes under par (72-69-141), one of two players tied for 13th. Two strokes back are a pair of freshmen, Grace Kellar (71-73-144) and Kate Lillie (73-71-144), who are among a tie for 25th place at even par.
Two shots behind is senior Sabrine Garrison, who is tied for 39th at two-over-par (75-71-146). Freshman Joanne Free rounds out the lineup tied for 56th at six-over-par 150 (74-76).
Three Gophers are competing individually, led by redshirt freshman Christine Portillo who is tied for 66th (79-73-152). Freshman Jessica Lee is tied for 71st (77-77-154) while junior Maggie Heggerston is tied for 75th (80-75-155).
Michigan State holds the team lead after two rounds at 19-under-par, with the Spartans' Paz Marta Sans atop the leaderboard at nine-under-par, including a tournament and course record 64 in the opening round.
The Minnesota Invitational concludes Tuesday with a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start.
