Alex Uloth won his first tournament as a Gopher as he took top honors at the SJU Fall Invitational. The Golden Gophers senior finished 1 over par at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course and Greystone Golf Club and led the field in par-4 scoring.
Playing as an individual, Uloth started his tournament with a 1-under 71 at Blackberry Ridge on Saturday. He had three birdies, including back-to-back par-4 holes 2 and 3.
Heading into Sunday's round at Greystone, Uloth was tied for the lead with UW-Eau Claire's Ryan Isaacson and Bethel's Noah Bragg. He carded a 2-over 74 to edge out Isaacson and St. John's Matt Lutz by one stroke.
Three more Gophers played in the event as individuals. Evan Long tied for 18th at 7 over, finishing with a 75 Sunday. Campbell Fisher tied for 44th and Reece Sanders for 59th.
Minnesota will return to the course Sept. 22-24 at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Carefree, Arizona's Desert Forest GC.
