Gophers Host Border Battle Dual on Satuday

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota men's track & field program continues the 2018 indoor season this weekend with the fourth annual Minnesota/Wisconsin Dual on Saturday, Jan. 13 at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse on campus.
The action starts at 12 p.m. CT.
Friday Action at St. Thomas
The Maroon & Gold will also send a contingency of competitors to St. Thomas on Friday, Jan. 12 for the UST Opener at Anderson Fieldhouse in St. Paul. The action starts at 4 p.m. CT.
Border Battle Dual Success
Now in its fourth year, the Golden Gophers have dominated the Border Battle against Wisconsin with both men's and women's programs winning the Minnesota/Wisconsin Dual in each of the previous three seasons. Josh Tracy (600 meters, 4x400), Jackson Wellenstein (400 meters, 4x400) and Glen Harold (pole vault) return to The Dual as event champions from last season.

Minnesota Returns Six All-Americans to Roster
The Maroon & Gold return six All-Americans to the 2018 roster in Ryan Lockard (High Jump: 2016), Brad Neumann (4x400: 2016). Shane Streich (DMR: 2017), Jackson Wellenstein (DMR: 2017, 4x400: 2017), Derek Wiebke (DMR: 2017) and Obsa Ali (3KS: 2017).
Gophers Open Home Slate With 11 Titles
The Golden Gopher men's track & field team won six events on the track and another five titles in the field events as the team hosted the season-opening Minnesota Open at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse last Saturday.

'U' Breaks Ground on T&F Facility
The University of Minnesota officially broke ground on a new outdoor track & field venue on Friday, Oct. 20. The new stadium will feature a nine-lane track with three chutes, full field event hosting capabilities, and a design to allow sprints and certain field events to be held in multiple directions to take advantage of wind conditions on competition days. These features, along with permanent and event-based seating, provide the flexibility and the amenities to host a wide variety of meets.
