Meet Preview: Spartans in Town for Always Dreaming

The Gophers host Michigan State for their Always Dreaming Cancer Awareness Meet this Saturday at 4 p.m.
All the info you need to know and some you probably don't below:
Help us Hit 3,000 Fans for the Always Dreaming Meet!
The Gophers will recognize young gymnast Rissy Schafer who fought cancer throughout last year and the Maddison Mertz family. Maddison lost her life to cancer in May 2017. Fans are encouraged to bring unused books and coloring books that will be donated to the Masonic Children's Hospital in their honor.
All fans who donate a book will be entered to win the same leotard that the Gophers wear during meets. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to the meet and free pink t-shirts will be handed out as supplies last. Help us hit a record breaking 3,000 fans as the Gophers battle to make a difference in cancer awareness!
Gopher Tidbits
The Gophers opened the season with a quad-meet victory over Maryland, Northern Illinois and Winona State with a 194.200.
The Maroon and Gold scored a 48.950 on the uneven bars which is good for No. 14 in the country and a 48.925 which is No. 13.
Lexy Ramler won the all-around title with a 39.000, in her collegiate debut. She had the meets highest score with a 9.925 on beam and tied for first on vault along with fellow freshman Ona Loper. They both scored a 9.775.
Ivy Lu won the bars title with a 9.900. Lu competed beam for the first time in a regular season meet and scored a 9.725. Paige Williams won the floor title with a 9.800.
Scouting the Spartans
The Spartans are 0-2 overall on the young season and 0-1 in Big Ten contests. They scored a 193.350 in a loss to Bowling Green and a 192.900 in a loss to Iowa. MSU has had the all-around winner at both of their meets this season. Junior Roya Shirley won in week one with a career high 39.075 and freshman Lea Mitchell won last time out with a 38.950.
