Final Results

The University of Minnesota men's gymnastics team opened their home season by posting a 405.900 team score to beat Iowa and the UMN Club Team.

"Our hit percentage improved quite a bit from our last meet, the Windy City. Our stick percentage improved a lot. Our score improved a lot. All those things are positives," head coach Mike Burns said.

Freshman Shane Wiskus earned the all-around title for the second time this season with an 82.550 overall score.

Minnesota was also led by Shaun Herzog, who had a 69.150 total score among five events.

"Shaun was outstanding tonight. I was really happy for him. He went out and nailed all of his routines," Burns said. "It's like he got better as the day went on. Most people get tired, but he got energized."

Herzog credited much of his energy to the crowd of 809 at Maturi Pavilion.

"I felt really confident on every single set today, especially on parallel bars," Herzog added. "That was probably my most proud moment."
