Gophers Earn CSCAA Academic Honors

MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs were named Scholar All-America teams for the 2017 fall semester, as announced Monday by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

Teams were required to post a grade point average of 3.0 or high for the fall semester. The team GPA includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.

The women registered a term GPA of 3.43 to tie for fifth among the Big Ten teams to receive accolades. The men were fourth in the Big Ten with a combined GPA of 3.30, which ranked 27th among the 96 NCAA Division I teams recognized.

Overall, 688 teams representing 430 institutions earned the Scholar All-American team distinction across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA divisions.

Minnesota wrapped up their regular season with a pair of victories over Northwestern and Purdue Saturday. The Maroon and Gold now prepare for the Big Ten meet with the women competing Feb.14-17 in Columbus Ohio and the men Feb 21-24 at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
