Final Stats

The University of Minnesota Gophers fell on the road 91-75 to the No. 10 Ohio State Buckeyes this evening. Destiny Pitts connected on five fourth quarter threes and finished with a career high 28 points in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First quarter: Pitts hit an early three to put the Gophers up 3-2 to start the game. Gadiva Hubbard hit a big three after an offensive rebound from Taiye Bello towards the end of the quarter but then the Buckeyes went on a 7-0 run to close out the quarter and led 20-12 after one. Kenisha Bell led all Gophers with six points after one. Carlie Wagner had five first quarter rebounds.

Second quarter: The Gophers ran into trouble in the second quarter with their lowest scoring total of the year in any quarter. Ohio State led 49-20 after the first half.

Third quarter: Wagner notched five third quarter points and went over her season high in rebounds by bringing her total to seven in the third. Pitts scored five points in the third to hit double-digits in scoring for the 10th time this season. Bryanna Fernstrom, who made her first start of the season, notched four points in the quarter. Hubbard banked in a three at the buzzer.

Fourth quarter: Wagner and Pitts hit early threes in the quarter. Pitts stayed hot with another three and Hubbard hit one on the next possession to move into double-digits for the ninth time this season. Wagner scored on a pair of possessions in a row and finished with 12 points on the night. Pitts connected on two more fourth quarter threes and finished with 18 fourth quarter points.

MORE NOTES

• Wagner set her season high in rebounds with nine on the evening. Her career high is ten.
• Freshman Pitts hit double-figures in scoring for the 10th time this season. She finished with a team leading 28 points. Hubbard hit double-digits for the ninth time.
• Pitts' 28 points were a career high. She also hit a career high nine field goals and tied her career of seven three pointers.
• Bell's impressive streak of scoring 20 or more points came to an end at six straight games.
• The Gophers fall to 12-4 on the season and 1-2 in the Big Ten.
